Gary Quick
GLADSTONE — Gary Quick, age 85, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at home.
Gary was born October 28, 1940 in Eagle, Michigan, the son of Elmont and Margaret Quick. He graduated from Rapid River High School in 1958. He worked for the Harnischfeger Corporation for many years and served as the union President. Upon his departure from Harnischfeger he became the UAW International Rep for the Upper Peninsula, retiring in 2002. He also served on the UAW Retirement Council. He was inducted into the Upper Peninsula Labor Hall of Fame in 2003. Gary was united in marriage to Beverly (Blixt-Harkins) in 1995. They made their home in Kipling and together they restored, owned and operated the Kipling Bar for three and a half years. Gary served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969. He was a lifelong member of the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71 and served as the Post Commander for six years.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; daughter Tina Harkins; sisters, Phyllis LaVigne and Linda Steger and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Quick.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A military service honoring Gary’s time served will take place at 3:00 PM with the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Pastor Terri Branstrom will officiate a memorial service following at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
