Robert Frederick Hoeft

Robert Frederick Hoeft, 93, of Gladstone, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Christian Park Village.

He was born in Ann Arbor on January 30, 1932, the son of Frederick and Anna (Tessmer) Hoeft. Robert graduated from Ann Arbor High School.

Robert served in the U.S. Army in the Engineer Corp during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/ 1 Camp Star, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal 1 O/S Bar.

On November 27, 1954, Robert married Donna Lee Falkenberg in Ann Arbor, MI. They were blessed with nearly 71 years of marriage.

He worked at Otis Elevator Company installing elevators at the VA hospital in Ann Arbor. Robert later started his career with the Ann Arbor Fire Department for 30 years as a master mechanic, retiring in January of 1985.

Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, race cars, MHRA short track racing and automotive tracks competition. He was a member of the Tequamanon Sportman’s Club.

Among survivors include his wife, Donna L. Hoeft of Gladstone; William F. (Camilla) Hoeft, Karen L. Hoeft, Paula M. Hoeft, and Frederick R. (Jean) Hoeft; grandchildren, Frederick J. Hoeft, Ethan R. Hoeft, Ava T. Hoeft, and Emily Saladin; and one great grandchild, Jordan Saladin.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Anna.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19th from 11 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. Military honors will conclude visitation hours at 12:00 p.m.

Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of one’s choice in Robert’s name.
