FLOWER MOUND, Texas — Richard “Dick” Victorson of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81 years old. Though our hearts ache with his loss, we are comforted to know that he is no longer in pain.
Dick was born in Escanaba, Michigan, on Jan. 24, 1944, to Albert and Ethel Victorson. After graduation from Escanaba Area High School, he attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant.
In 1965, Dick married his childhood sweetheart, Delores “Dolly” Waak. Their love story began in Escanaba and grew stronger through 60 years of marriage. Together, they raised three wonderful children — a son, Dana, and daughters Dawn and Jennifer. Their family later grew to include three amazing grandchildren: Jacob, Rowan and Ella, who brought Dick endless pride and joy.
Over the years, the family made homes in Ypsilanti, Michigan; Bloomington, Minnesota; and finally in Flower Mound, Texas.
Dick’s career included 25 years as a revenue agent for the Michigan Department of Treasury, and another 15 years in the same capacity for the state of Colorado. He took pride in his work and built lasting friendships along the way.
His faith and church affiliations were always among his top priorities. He served on church councils and taught Lutheran confirmation for several years in both Minnesota and Texas.
Sports were a big part of his life. He played baseball and football growing up and then softball and golf as an adult. He loved being part of a team, giving his time generously to his community as a Cubmaster with the Boy Scouts and coaching youth sports. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in their various sports and activities, whether on the ice, the field, the gym or the stage.
Dick was a loyal fan of Michigan football (“Go Blue”), the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Stars hockey. He often was a very vocal armchair quarterback on game days.
Dick is survived by his wife, Dolly; his son, Dana; his daughters Dawn (Kenny) Bennett and Jennifer Victorson; and his grandchildren, Jacob and Ella Bennett, and Rowan Victorson. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Stasewich; brother, Dennis (Nancy) Victorson and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Living Word Lutheran Church, on Nov. 8, 2025, at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Living Word Lutheran Church, 2031 W. Northwest Hwy., Grapevine, Tex. 76051.
