Paul C. Roll

Paul was born on November 19, 1932, in Fredericksburg, Indiana to the son of John T & Luticia A. (Crayden) Roll. He graduated from Paoli High School & joined the U.S. Navy. After finishing his 5 years in the military, he went on to get his Bachelor of Science in transportation from Indiana University.

Paul worked his entire career in transportation. He worked for REA Express, Clairmont Transfer Company, U.P. Special Delivery & AM Express. Upon retirement, he worked part time at Anderson Funeral Home and Bethany Lutheran Church. Paul also was a principal volunteer with Thrivent Financial fundraising for Northwoods Air Lifeline to purchase their first plane. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, the camaraderie of hunting camp and spending time with family and friends. He was a man with many humorous sayings that he applied to many life situations. He was a man with a warm heart and a stubborn streak which his children inherited. He was a man who loved his family to his core.

Paul leaves behind saddened hearts filled with happy memories. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jo Roll; his children Susan Roll, Brad (Rhonda) Roll, Julie Roll-Phillips (Joe Phillips); grandchildren LiAnne (Daniel) Johnson, Joseph Phillips, Maia Roll, & William Phillips; great-grandson Arthur Johnson; Brother-in-law & Sister-in-law John & Suzy Decker; Sister-in-law Carole Taylor; Nieces and nephews Craig (Leigh) Roll, Colina(Mike) Rivetts, Scott Decker, John (Maureen) Roll, Jill Decker, Stacy (Mike) Moore and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John & Luticia Roll, Aunt Mary Frances Roll and Uncle Walter Roll, brother and sister-in-law Charles A. & Virginia Roll, & brother George E. Roll

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Paul Roll will be held at 12:00 pm Friday at the Bathany Lutheran Church with Rev. Lily Brondyke officiating. A luncheon to be held after the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church or the Northwoods Air Lifeline.
