Margaret Engdahl
Margaret “Margie” Engdahl, age 93, of Escanaba passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, WI.
Margie was born June 10, 1932 in Escanaba, the daughter of Noah and Evelyn (LeDuc) Marcoe. She attended and graduated from Escanaba High School. She was united in marriage to Frederick R. Engdahl Sr on June 18, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Margie was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba. She worked at Michigan Bell telephone Co. She liked sewing, shopping, and liked fashion. She was known as a “classy lassy”. Over the years she volunteered at the cancer society at St. Francis Hospital, and worked for many funeral luncheons at St. Anne Church. She was a member of the third order of St. Francis, Escanaba Woman’s Club, and the Red Hat Society. She also was an eucharistic minister for 11 ½ years to the homebound.
Margie enjoyed some nice trips with her husband throughout his work career. A trip to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore, and a live action play of the Passion with the original cast from Germany. Also took an exciting trip to Washington D.C and took in all highlights, plus a visit to the White House, and a special formal dinner for Postmasters of America. She had the honor of having 3,000 people singing Happy Birthday to her, and was presented with flowers.
She was of quiet nature, and believed that we should look for the good in everyone.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Susan Closs of Escanaba; five grandchildren, Catie (Jeremy) Oakes, Megan Spaulding, Joyce Engdahl, Fred (Jordan) Engdahl III and Timmy Engdahl; five great grandchildren, Mya Lewis, Aiden Oakes, Rilynn Engdahl, Cambree Engdahl and Kinley Engdahl; daughter-in-law, Debra Engdahl of Bark River and numerous nieces and nephews.
