James R. Bonifas

James was born April 27, 1946, the son of Elmer and Edith “DeDe” (Ammel) Bonifas. He graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School. He served his country proudly in the US Navy and worked at the Mead/Westvaco Paper Mill for many years. He was united in marriage to Linda Peterson on October 10, 1980 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba. He enjoyed hunting, fishing especially Walleye, tinkering and putzing in the garage and a fan of the Green Bay Packers.

James is survived by his wife, Linda ; children Melissa (Rick) Bonifas-Ness, Erik (Jennifer) Bonifas, Sara (Corey) Bonifas-Lueneburg and Kate Bonifas; grandchildren, Melinda, Jax, Madeline, Rowan and his pride and joy, Camree; sister Loretta (Joe) DeChristopher, brothers Michael (Sandra) Bonifas and George (Lucy) Bonifas and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Westerberg and Rosie Bonifas and a brother Patrick Bonifas.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 26 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be presented by the Delta County Veterans Council followed by funeral services officiated by Pastor Mike Markwell at 3:30 PM.
