Nancy M. (Meyette) Grondine, 75, Spalding, passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 4, 1950 in Escanaba, daughter of the late Albert and Cecile (Bussineau) Meyette, and raised in Gladstone. On August 16, 1983 she married James “Jim” Grondine in Rapid River, MI.
Nancy graduated from Gladstone High School class of 1968. She spent her life surrounded by family and friends, and her generous spirit and warm heart touched everyone who knew her.
A talented seamstress, Nancy was well known in her community, especially during her years in Rapid River as the go-to person for any alteration or sewing project. Her creativity and dedication made her work a gift to so many. Nancy’s passions and talents began early in life, she belonged to 4-H, where she was a member of the square dancers and sewing club, she also was an accomplished skater who played hockey with the neighborhood boys. She later shared her love of movement by teaching dance and enjoyed many evenings of line dancing with her beloved husband, James.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, her children: Jennifer (Paul) LaChance, Jacki Grondine (Greg), Chris (Shannon) Dupey, Greg Dupey, Jessica (Steve) Gartland, Jill (Chris) Normand, and Melissa (Jeremy) Harvey, her siblings: Ron (Donna) Meyette, David (Terry) Meyette, Ken Meyette, Pam (Glen) Meunier, Cheri (Fred) Robinson, and Wendy (Matt) Marmalick, fourteen grandchildren: Hunter (Paige) Gasman, Bon LaChance, Kyle (Lindsey) Bellefeuil, Danielle Dupey, Eli Dupey, Shanin Popour, Anna, Jacob and Cameron Gartland, Adelyn and Ellarie Normand, Tessa, Spencer and Elliott Harvey, three great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished dearly, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two nephews: Anthony Meyette and Dusten Berube and a niece: Laela Berube.
Nancy’s family and friends will remember her as a woman who loved with her whole heart, gave selflessly, and left the world a brighter and warmer place. She lived a life centered on love, family, and kindness. She always put others before herself, wanting nothing more than to see those around her happy. To know her was to love her.
The family of Nancy expresses the most heartfelt thank you to OSF Oncology Department and the UP Health Systems Hospice Team. Nancy became close to so many from these care teams!
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday October 22, 2025 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday at the funeral home with pastor Terri Branstrom officiating. Burial will follow in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
