Kathleen Mary Cook

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Kathleen Mary (Adams) Cook, 82, died peacefully Oct. 9, 2025, in her Highlands Ranch, Colo., home.

Kathi was born Sept. 19, 1943, to Robert and Margaret (Bisdee) Adams in Rockford, Ill. The family moved to Fort Atkinson, Wisc., before settling in Gladstone. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1960, then attended beauty school in Milwaukee.

On April 6, 1963, she married Robert Kenneth Cook at her home church, Trinity Episcopal in Gladstone. As they moved around the country – from Michigan to New Hampshire back to Michigan, then to Texas and back to Michigan again, before finally settling in Indiana – Kathi trained and built a career as a histologist, retiring from Eli Lilly & Co. in Indianapolis.

Kathi had a strong faith and was highly involved in any church she attended, most notably St. Alban’s Episcopal in Muskegon, Mich., and St. Philip’s Episcopal in Indianapolis. She was a fanatic for her beloved Green Bay Packers, owning not just a cheese head but other cheese wear she could break out on game days. Wherever she lived, Kathi got to know her neighbors and had an open door for them. She enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Australia and multiple locations in Europe. Kathi also enjoyed gardening, and after moving to Colorado was a frequent visitor to the Denver Botanic Gardens.

She loved her native Upper Peninsula of Michigan, always identifying as a Yooper. And, of course, she loved her family. She enjoyed most of all spending time with family and friends.

Kathi is survived by her brother, William (Nancy) Adams; children, Robert Jr. (Jacqueline) Cook and Jonathan (Lisa) Cook; grandchildren Bobby, Byrd, Ryan and Emily, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in her death by her parents; her brother, Robert Adams, and her husband, Ken.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
