Jerome Joseph Sachinski

DE PERE, WI — Jerome Joseph Sachinski, 86, passed away on October 10, 2025, at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center in De Pere, Wisconsin. Jerome was born on July 27, 1939, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the son of Mary (Weinandt) and Joseph Sachinski. He attended St. Josephat’s Catholic School and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1957.

He met Carol Wilmers while he was the manager of the Newberry Store in Calumet and they later married on August 4, 1962, in Calumet, Michigan. Jerome was drafted into the Army in January 1963 and stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama where he proudly served his country. While there, they welcomed their first daughter, Maria (Eastman). After an honorable discharge from Fort Rucker, Alabama they resided in Escanaba, where they welcomed two more daughters Kristina (Karkkainen) and Kelly (Garland).

Jerome worked for UPPCO then worked on his electrical certification and became an electrician. After teaching electrical code night classes at Bay de Noc Community College, Jerome went back to school and received his bachelor’s degree in technical education from Ferris State University and began teaching at the Delta-Schoolcraft ISD in Escanaba. There he taught in the vocational education program, teaching students the fundamentals of electricity. He retired in 2000, and he and Carol traveled and spent their winters at Redington Beach, Florida for over 17 years.

Jerome was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church. He enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards, the Green Bay Packers, and spending their summers at their camp on Lake Superior. Jerome and Carol enjoyed traveling to watch their grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Carol of 63 years, three children, Maria (Greg) Eastman of Green Bay, Kristina (Tom) Karkkainen of Fleming Island, Florida and Kelly (Heath) Garland, of Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Gunnar Eastman, Gabe Eastman, Gus (Kiersten) Eastman, Kaisa Karkkainen, Evelyn Karkkainen, Tommy Karkkainen, Landon Garland, Kellan Garland, great grandchild Brody Eastman, sister Rosemary (Jerry) Wiss and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Anderson Funeral Home of Escanaba. The Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Father Rick Courier will be presiding over the Mass. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church fellowship hall. The burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery after the luncheon.
