David James Maki
David James Maki, age 57, of Rock passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born October 26, 1967, in Escanaba and was the son of Raymond James and Linda Lou (Mattila) Maki, Jr. Dave graduated from Mid-Peninsula High School in 1986. He was employed as a machinist at Pardon Incorporated for 30 years until his retirement. Dave enjoyed collecting things, going to rummage sales, watching western movies and he was a person who enjoyed starting a project, but never finished them. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, his cats and dogs. Dave was an avid Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wing fan. Being of Finnish Heritage, he enjoyed his sauna time!
Dave is survived by daughter Samantha Johnson of Gladstone, grandchildren Adam and Alivia; mother Linda Maki of Rock; sister Jill (Eric) Thompson of Rock; niece Brienna; girlfriend Mandy Moberg of Rock and her daughter Ellie Moberg, and grandson Brett Moberg. Great niece Callie and great nephews Damien, Anthony, Adyn, Evyn; Axtyn and Blaine.
He was preceded in death by nephew Eric Thompson, Jr.
A private gathering was held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Burial took place in the Rock Cemetery. The Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the Maki family with the arrangements and online condolences can be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
