ESCANABA — Daniel Robert “Danny” Bergeon, 74, of Krautostheim, Germany, passed away on August 6, 2025. Danny was born on March 27, 1951, in Chandler, Arizona, to Daniel and Carol Joyce (Willette) Bergeon of Escanaba, Michigan. He graduated from Escanaba Area High School in 1970 and left the very next day for boot camp, beginning a lifetime of honorable service to his country. Following his military graduation, Danny was deployed to Vietnam from 1971 to 1975 and later continued his service in Germany, where he remained stationed until his retirement in 1990 as a Staff Sergeant. Over more than twenty years of dedicated service, Danny earned numerous awards and commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and several other honors recognizing his courage and leadership. After retiring, Danny made Germany his home for over forty years. He was an active member of the VFW, where he built lasting friendships with fellow veterans and shared a deep bond over their shared experiences. In his free time, Danny enjoyed leather crafting, a hobby that reflected his creativity, patience, and attention to detail. Danny is survived by his son, Jay Bergeon of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his siblings Carol Baker (Phil Nelson), Kathy (Mark) Stanchina, Janice (Dan) Tryan, Pat (Jodi) Bergeon, Barbi (Steve) Dubord, and Shelly (Leonard) McKeever; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen; his brother, Gary Bergeon; and his parents, Daniel and Carol Joyce Bergeon. Danny will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his quiet strength, and the kindness he showed to those who knew him best. His legacy of service and love will continue to live on through his family and friends across the world.
