Alneida H. Weissert

Alneida H. Weissert, 87, of Escanaba, passed away early Friday morning, October 17, 2025 at Bishop Noa Home.

She was born on May 26, 1938 in Escanaba, daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Wunder) Scheeneman. Alneida was raised in Ford River and attended Escanaba School.

Alneida worked for OSF St. Francis Hospital in the housekeeping department for 25 years, retiring in 2016.

She enjoyed hunting, bird watching, and loved flowers and gardening.

Alneida was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed being a part of the Foster Grandparent Program.

Among survivors include children, David Wesissert of Ford River, Tammy (Bobby) Hivner of Dillsburg, PA, William “Erick” Weissert of Ford River, Peggy Weissert of Gladstone, and Lisa (Tom) Miller of Seattle WA; siblings, Judy (George) LaFave of Ford River and Terry (Lynn) Scheeneman of Gladstone; and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Becky; brother, Carl Scheeneman; and her beloved dog, Tiny.

The visitation will be on Friday, October 24th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 S. 30th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Paul Doletzky officiating.

Burial will take place in West Ford River Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family, c/o William “Erick” Weissert, and a memorial will be established at a later date.
