GLADSTONE — Theresa Ann VanEnkevort (nee Seymour), of Gladstone, passed away in the presence of her immediate family on the evening of August 28, 2025, at Brookridge Heights in Marquette. She was a resident of the Memory Care facility where the management and staff provided loving care for the past two years.
Theresa was born in Schaffer on August 12, 1927, daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Provost) Seymour. She attended St. Joseph High School and graduated in 1945 then continued her education at a commercial college for one year. She worked for the Department of the Army in Escanaba from 1947-1959. She then began her career with the Social Security Administration from 1959 until her retirement in 1983. After her retirement she continued to work part time for Fashion Crossroads in the Delta Plaza mall and the Mata Brown shop in downtown Escanaba.
Theresa’s first marriage was to Ralph Joseph DeCaire, the father of her two children, Susan and Joseph. He preceded her in death in 1978. In the early 80’s she married Al Adams. Al was a great musician and Theresa loved music. They danced quite a bit and took many vacation trips together. He preceded her in death in 1998. On September 10, 2005 she married Clyde VanEnkevort at All Saints Church in Gladstone. They made their home together at Lake Bluff Retirement Village until he passed in 2016.
Theresa enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and playing games on the computer. She especially enjoyed hearing all of her musical clocks throughout her house. She was a devoted member of All Saints Church, the Eagles Club, and the American Cribbage Congress.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Kevin) Headley of Fairbury, IL and Joseph (Lynn Jandron) DeCaire of Ishpeming, MI; granddaughter Sevin (Lukas Brendenkamp) Headley along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husbands; Theresa is preceded in death by sisters, Arlene Taylor, Charlotte and Gertrude Tousignant; brothers Edward, Henry (Gladys), Hubert, and Roy (Barbara) Seymour.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 23rd from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick Courier officiating.
Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer.
