GARDEN — Joanne K. LaBute 92 of Garden, MI passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Up until the end Joanne maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and she expressed gratitude to the Lord for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. She was born March 24, 1933 in Manistique, MI and was raised in Fayette.
Joanne was a wonderful Godly woman who enjoyed her life on the farm along with her husband and family and many friends. She loved the Garden Peninsula and participated in many social and church activities throughout her life. Anyone who knew her knows of her kindness, love and many talents and skills.
Joanne was proceeded in death by her husband Norman LaBute, parents Herbert and Margaret Pizzala, Brothers Melvin, Virgil, Donald, James, sister Joyce Swanson and grandsons Douglas and Jeremy Saez.
She is survived by her four children: daughter Norma (John) Saez, Son Todd (Heidi) LaBute Son Bruce LaBute, daughter Carmen (Nate) Gembel all of Garden. She is also survived by her brother Darrell Pizzala of Green Bay. She was a loving grandmother to Joshua (Lauren) Saez, Aleatha Saez, Kayley Saez, Myah Saez, Erica (Eric) Schubert, Emily Sedenquist, Gary Sedenquist; great grandchildren Wyatt Saez, Cooper Rousseau, Emma Pomeroy. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:00, Thursday September 4, 2025, at the Garden Christian Fellowship Church in Garden, MI. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the church with Pastor Greg Williamson officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the New Garden.
