David Chernick
BARK RIVER — On Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, David A. Chernick, of Bark River, was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father.
David was raised in Escanaba, Michigan, by the late David and Linda Chernick, where he was an integral part of the family business, Chernick Construction. It was there that he learned a strong work ethic, integrity and the importance of being kind. Most importantly, David cherished his time with his extended family, from spending summers of his youth with his grandparents Ruth and Earl Kersten in Watersmeet, Michigan, to spending time with his Aunt Carol and Uncle Leland Kersten to rough-housing with his nieces and nephews. David was one of a kind with a quick wit, passion for writing poetry, and never missing an opportunity to participate in a lively debate. David enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his three dogs.
David is survived by his daughter, Anastasia (Josh) Clark, and his two grandsons, Joshua and Hunter; his mother, Linda; his sisters, Lisa Chernick, Long Prairie, Minn., and Nicole (Mike) Larucci, McHenry, Ill.; and his brother, Marc Chernick, Escanaba. Along with his nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Abby) Willette-Baier, Chicago, Ill., Blaine (Katherine) Chernick, Escanaba, Nicholas (Kianna) Sampey, Fargo, N.D., Vik, Rory and Ty Hensen, McHenry, Ill., and Mason and Mike Larucci, McHenry, Ill.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
