Lorrayne Krans

ESCANABA — Lorrayne Krans, age 84, of Escanaba, passed peacefully into her heavenly home Friday, July 25, 2025, at The LakeHouse in Escanaba. She was born on August 9, 1940, in Duluth, Minn. and was the daughter of Olaf and Lois Bakken. Lorrayne was known by her friends as a gracious, hospitable, talented and Godly woman. Her family took priority in her life raising two sons Dean Krieg and Scott Krieg. She studied at Northcentral Bible College, MacPhail School of Music and a master’s degree from Northern Michigan University that equipped her in fulfilling her ongoing life passions which included a rich career in music, teaching piano lessons, and an elementary jr. high school music teacher in Gladstone, Mich. Her church life through the years always held high priority where she was regularly active in ministry. She took her talents with her when serving in local and foreign missions to reach people with Gods love and grace.
Lorrayne is survived by her son Scott (Kristina) Krieg, brother Gordon (Linda) Bakken, sister Marilyn (Lars) Eggehorn, and grandchildren, Emily (Christopher) Charboneau, Mathew (Ashley) Krieg. Aaron (Karleigh) Krieg, Christopher Krieg (Melisa), Tyler Krieg, Britney (Jesse) Tahash, Kaelee Gagnon (Jordan), Marki (Zachary) Gordanier, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Paul Bakken, son Dean Krieg, as well as two husbands Charles Krieg and Byron Krans.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at the New Life Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lorrayne Krans will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at New Life Church with Pastor Jason Janich and Pastor Bob Derheim officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship area. She will be buried next to her husband, Byron, at Spencer Lake Bible Camp Cemetery in Waupaca, Wis. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Life Community Center would be welcomed and appreciated.
