GLADSTONE — Ivah Sue Bucholz, age 91, of Gladstone passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 peacefully at home.

Sue was born on August 4, 1934 in Owosso, Michigan to Harry and Iva (Myers) Smith. She attended high school in Owosso, graduating in 1952. Upon completion of high school she attended Michigan State University graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor of Art Degree.

Sue taught in Corunna, Michigan for 2 years before marrying Wayne E Bucholz on June 8, 1957. They resided in Elsie, Michigan where she taught for another 2 years prior to the birth of their first child, Danae. Sue took the next 22 years off teaching, except for some substitute teaching in Harrison and Rapid River to raise their 4 children, Danae, Robin, Lisa and Angela.

Through the years she enjoyed the time spent in Harrison, at their cottage on Budd Lake, with family and close friends whom she entertained from Owosso and Gladstone.

During her early years she loved to swim, water-ski, fish and tubing. Sue also enjoyed traveling with her entire family and attending MSU basketball and football games. She was an avid Detroit Tiger, Lion and Red Wings fan and avid card player with loved ones.

Sue was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Gladstone where she served as Ecumenical Coordinator, a member of the Vestry and Ministry Support team.

Ivah Sue is survived by her loving husband, Wayne of 68 years, three daughters, Danae (Jon) Aplegren, Lisa (Troy) Nelson and Angela (Darin) Hunter, and her son, Robin (Jill) Bucholz. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jayce, Jenna, Justin, Conner, Harper, Kali, Greg, Jared and Taylor and seven great grandchildren, Aubre, Liam, Cole, Eloide, Madelyn, Breck, and Rayah and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded by her sister, Barb (Jim) Porter, Pat (Gary) Cooper and nephews, Mark, Jimmy and Jeff.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 20 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Sue’s service will follow at 3:30 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Gladstone with Bishop Rayford Ray and Rev. Sue Ray officiating.

A Celebration of Life following the funeral will take place at the Gladstone Yacht Club.
