Barbara J. Collins

EDGERTON, Wis. — Barbara J. Collins, age 83, of Edgerton, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Our House Senior Living, Cambridge. She was born in Escanaba, on January 10, 1942, the daughter of Leo and Helen (McDonnell) Lancour. She was a graduate of Holy Name Catholic School in Escanaba, and after graduation attained her LPN degree. She married Earl A. Collins on July 10, 1964, in Waukegan, Ill. Barb worked for many years as an LPN and also as an EMT for Edgerton EMS. Later, she worked as a Deputy Coroner for the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office from which she retired. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and family trips to Escanaba. Barb was very strong willed and freely offered her opinions. You always knew where you stood with her! She was a member of the Krazy Quilters at Central Lutheran and never tried to miss a gossip circle session with the ladies on Wednesday’s at Culvers.

Barb is survived by two children, Kathy (Dale) Howard of Newville and Michael Collins of Edgerton; three grandchildren, Kali and Laci McKaig and Eric Collins of Edgerton; great-granddaughter, Addie; four siblings, Terry (Carol) and Tom (Lynn) both of Escanaba, Mary (Jozef) of Las Vegas and Bonnie of Belize; dear friend, Judy; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; daughter-in-law, Sonja Collins; and maternal aunt, Jane McDonnell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27 in the Pavillion at the Rock River Thresheree, Edgerton beginning at 11 a.m. Final resting place will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton.
