BARK RIVER — Rolland Chabot, age 87, of Bark River, passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 16, 2025, in Escanaba, surrounded by his loving family.
Rolland was born April 29,1938, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Adelard and Jeanette (Jobin) Chabot. He was raised in Detroit where he also attended school.
Rolland worked at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit before moving to Bark River in the late 1970s. He was employed at Harnischfeger Corporation in Escanaba until its closing. Rolland then went to work construction and work in the woods until his retirement.
Rolland was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed deer hunting, bear hunting and going fishing. Rolland belonged to the National Rifle Association (NRA), and Whitetails Unlimited. As a hobby, Rolland loved collecting guns, reloading ammo and buying and selling firearms, knives and axes.
Rolland is survived by his long time friend and companion, Ann Lemieux of Escanaba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adelard and Jeanette and his sister, Mary.
Rolland’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Closing prayers will follow visiting hours at 4 p.m. Rolland will be laid to rest in the Bark River Cemetery on Wednesday June 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. Rolland’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful care provided by OSF Home Health and Hospice.
