Margaret ‘Peg’ Mary Craig
ESCANABA — Margaret “Peg” Mary Craig, 98, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday morning, May 8, 2025 at Bishop Noa Home.
She was born in Escanaba on October 17, 1926, the daughter of Yvonne Gardner and Alfred Gardner. She was raised in Wells and graduated from Escanaba Area High School.
On June 21, 1947, Margaret married Richard “Dick” Craig at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba. Together they raised three children.
Peg enjoyed golfing with Dick but most of all she loved taking care of her children.
She was a member of the Escanaba Country Club and St. Anne’s Church.
She is survived by daughter, Karen (Brad) Rowe of Rapid River and son Michael (Lisa) Craig of Escanaba; grandchildren, Dr. Ian R. (Jamie) Rowe, Lindsey (Nathan) Bosman, Ryan Michael, Ross (Winter) Richard Craig, Aria, and Selaina Kauffman, Camden, Savannah, and Austin Johnson, Kyari, Rayden, Sebastian, and Owen Craig; sister, Sister Maryl Gardner of Manitowac, Wis.; sister-in-law, Beverly Gardner; and nephew, Tom (Maureen) Gardner.
Margaret was preceded in death by son, Bruce, who served in the Marines and was killed in action during the Viet-Nam War in 1968; parents and husband Dick; brothers, Theodore “Ted” Gardner and Merrill Gardner.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15 from 2 to 3 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.
