Hope Emily Hansen

ESCANABA — Hope Emily Hansen, 81, of Escanaba, passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, with her children by her side.

Born August 14, 1943, in Standish, Michigan, Hope was the daughter of Marvin and Medley (Ensign) Hansen. She was a spirited woman known for her deep love for the Lord, devotion to her faith, her family, and her community.

Affectionately called “Gramma,” Hope was the heart of her family and cherished the special bond she shared with each of her grandchildren. She loved cooking, sharing chocolate treats, sipping coffee in the sun, and ending every visit with a hug, a kiss, and a heartfelt “I love you.” Later in life, she found her calling as a Foster Grandparent at Holy Name Catholic School — a role she deeply loved.

Hope is survived by her children, Timothy (Debbie) Hansen, Tracy Hamilton, Heidi (Bob Stasewich) Hamilton, and Joseph (Joanie Nault) Hamilton; grandchildren, Neva, David, Stephen, Asia, Elizabeth, Mikaela and Ericka; great-grandchildren, Tavi, Edyn, Cylis, Avalon and Indigo. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and countless others whose lives she touched with her open heart. Hope was able to maintain her independence in great thanks to her loving longtime caregiver, Becky Deneau, and her most loyal companion, her beloved cat, Flo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Frederick Hansen.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
