Floyd N. ‘Nate’ Foreman

ESCANABA — Floyd N. “Nate” Foreman, 73, of Escanaba, passed away in the early morning of Monday, May 12, 2025, at Stone Lodge Assisted Living in Shepard, Mich.

Nate was born on May 12, 1952 in San Jose, Calif., son of Floyd Jr. and Josie Faye (Reed) Foreman. He attended Homestead High School in Cupertino, Calif. and graduated in 1970. Nate also attended the University of Maryland where he earned an associate’s degree.

He married the former Helen Sprout in Oscoda, Mich. on November 29, 1974. They were able to spend over 50 years together before his passing.

After high school, Nate joined the U.S. Air Force for four years and spent 18 months in Thailand. He continued to serve in the armed forces but transferred to the Army in 1980 where he spent most of his career as a combat engineer. Nate earned a Bronze Star along with several other awards while serving. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and was honorably discharged in September of 1992.

Nate was an avid fisherman who enjoyed traditional fishing, fly fishing, and making his own fishing poles. He also enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley Davidson. Among survivors include his loving wife, Helen; son, Dave (Trish) Foreman of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Valerie, Justine, Natalie, Jazmin, Kalei, and Liam; great-grandchildren, Deacon and Anastasia; and siblings, Betty (Mike) Salois, Ken (Carllen) Foreman, and Joanie (David) Birmingham. Along with his parents, Nate was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amberle.

A private celebration of life will take place at the convenience of the family. Military services will take place at the time of entombment. Floyd will be entombed at the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
