Eunice Ann Vandecaveye

Eunice Ann Vandecaveye, 87, of Escanaba passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Bishop Noa Home.

Eunice was born on January 5, 1938, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Peter and Agnes (Miron) Peterson. She moved to Perkins, MI as a young child and graduated from Perkins High School.

Eunice was the organist at St. Joseph Church in Perkins for many years and was a devout Catholic. She was employed for 24 years at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba retiring as the executive secretary to the administrator.

On June 23, 1978, she married James Vandecaveye, and they enjoyed 13 years together until his death in 1991. She loved playing her piano, music, books, poetry, painting, traveling, and visiting with friends and relatives. Her keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

Eunice is survived by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, great-great nieces, nephews, and several close friends.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, brother Joe Peterson, sisters & in-laws, Margaret Peterson, Patricia (Gordon) Nelson, Louise (Bob) Richards, Theresa (Adelore “JR”) Gerou and Frances (Paul) Hicks.

Per Eunice’s request, there will be no visitation. The Mass of Christian Burial honoring Eunice will be on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at noon at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery. The Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba is assisting the family with arrangements.
