Douglas R. Soltysiak M.D.

CORNELL — Douglas R. Soltysiak M.D., 68, of Cornell, passed away the morning of May 27, 2025 at home after a lengthy illness.

Douglas was born on November 16, 1956 in Bethlehem, Pa., son of Richard and Helen (Svites) Soltysiak. He was raised in Coopersburg, Pa., attended Palisades High School and graduated in 1974. He earned his Doctorate from Ross University School of Medicine – New York in 1988.

He married the former Deborah Anne Slesinski on November 9, 1991 in Stroudsburg, Pa.

After achieving his doctorate, Douglas specialized in internal medicine and locally worked for OSF St. Francis Hospital as an Internal Medicine Specialist until his retirement.

During high school, Douglas played soccer and was a goalkeeper. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting sports.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; siblings, Dennis Soltysiak, Donna (Frank) Naydyhor, and Debra (Michael) Davis; nephews, Shawn Soltysiak and Scott Soltysiak; and nieces, Ann Wagner and Karen Naydyhor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will take place at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba, on Saturday, July 12 from 10 – 11 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steven Hartten officiating.

Douglas will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery of Hellertown in Pennsylvania.
