Delores Hanson

ESCANABA — Delores Hanson, 92, of Escanaba passed away on May 3, 2025, after a short hospital stay. Delores was born on May 17, 1932 in Shelly, Minnesota, to Tillie Nerison Nygaard and Millard Nygaard. She married Richard Hanson on June 15, 1952 in Ulen, Minnesota. They were married 53 years before his death in 2005. In 1962, they moved to Wells, where Dick built his career in carpentry. Delores was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church for the past 63 years.
She loved to sew on Wednesdays with the ladies in the church basement. She also loved gardening, baking, knitting and of course, her family. She was a doting and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Delores worked at Bethany as a secretary early on, then spent many years with Office Service Company in Escanaba. She enjoyed her work there and stayed until they closed the store.
Delores is survived by her daughters Pamela (Daniel) Kolander of Milwaukee and Susan (Robert) Peverley of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren Jeremiah (Kelly) Kolander, Danelle (Mike) Blazejovsky and Megan (Brian) Schreiber, Caroline (Yiannis) Philipopoulos and Courtney Peverley; great-grandchildren Lucas, Nathan & Madelyn Kolander, Bradley Blazejovsky, Wesley and Mackenzie Schreiber and Artemis, Auggie and Matteo Philipopoulos. She is also survived by her stepmother Arlene Nygaard, sister-in-law Marilyn and sister-in-law Fay, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harlan Nygaard & Virgil Nygaard.
Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba on Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lily Brondyke officiating. A reception will follow in the Ludington Room at Anderson Funeral Home. The burial will follow the time of fellowship at Lakeview Cemetery.
