Randy Julian Bruntjens
HOMEWOOD, Ill. — Randy Julian Bruntjens, 48, of Homewood, passed away on March 24, 2025 following a lifelong struggle with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Randy is survived by his wife Lauren Bruntjens (nee Shover) and their son Ethan. Randy was born on March 7, 1977, in Escanaba. He was the oldest son of Linda (nee Ronn) and Randy Bruntjens. He moved to Illinois with his mother and brother Chad in 1979. The boys enjoyed spending summers in Michigan with their father and his wife Gayle, and fishing with their brother Jeffrey. Linda and Steve Schmitz married in 1983 and joined their families.
Randy will be missed by his siblings Chad (Stephanie) Bruntjens, Sarah (Robert) Welcome, Corinne Schmitz, Jeffrey (Becky)Bruntjens, and the late Steve Schmitz (Crystal) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Randy attended schools in Chicago and graduated from Evergreen Park Community High School and Moraine Valley Community College, where he earned an associate’s of art degree.
Randy will be affectionately remembered by family and friends with his quirky humor, fearless honesty and fortitude in facing his daily battle.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 12 at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood from 10 to 11:45 a.m. followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 11:45 a.m.
