Lynne Margaret Winget

ESCANABA – Lynne Margaret Winget of Escanaba, 81, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, WI.

Lynne was born on June 14, 1943, to James and Bernice (Jeppeson) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She spent most of her childhood in Marquette, until her father moved the family to New Haven, Indiana for work.

Lynne graduated from New Haven High School in 1961 and then went on to earn her cosmetology license. In 1963, she married the love of her life, William Winget. Lynne worked in quality control for Indiana Wire Die for over forty years before retiring.

Lynne was a very social and outgoing person- it might be said, she never met a stranger. She enjoyed bowling and played on the same team for four decades at the Northcrest Lanes. Lynne also did a little bartending on the side at Katy’s Kapers in the Fort Wayne area.

Lynne and Bill eventually moved back to the Upper Peninsula and she briefly worked at Angeli’s Central Market of Iron River before settling in Escanaba closer to her son.

Lynne was a devoted wife, wonderful mother and step-mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved hard and was a great defender of those she loved.

Lynne is survived by her son, James (Cara) Winget; step-daughters Margaret Bender and Cindy Worthman; grandchildren Brandi (Matt) Winget, Amanda (Eli) Ramirez, James (Shayla) Winget, Whitely Wehmanen, and Tammy Worthman; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends, and other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill on December 30, 2008; infant daughter Christine Winget; and sister Barbara (Gordon) Franke.
