Patricia A. Johnston
GLADSTONE — Patricia A. Johnston, 98, of Gladstone passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at Roubal Care and Rehabilitation Center in Stephenson, Mich. She was born May 17, 1926 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. and was the daughter of Nelson A. and Lenore (Bergmoser) Lawrence. Pat was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. and moved to Brimley as a teenager and graduated from Brimley High School in 1944. She began her working career at the Soo Savings Bank, later working at other banks in the Sault Ste. Marie area. The former Patricia Lawrence married Harold Johnston on August 16, 1950 at St. James Episcopal Church in Sault Ste Marie, Mich. and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2019. The couple lived in Paw Paw, Mich. and Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. while Harold was serving in the Michigan State Police. Harold retired from the Michigan State Police and they moved to Gladstone where Harold went to work for the Operating Engineers. Pat was a member of the Escanaba Elks Lodge #354. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid Detroit Tiger and Lions fan.
Patricia is survived by her daughter-in-law Julie Johnston of Escanaba; grandchild Taylor Nordman; great grandchildren Charles and Kyson Nordman; and niece Janet (David) Trotter of Gladstone.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Cammie Lee Johnston on October 4, 1987 and son David “Gut” Johnston on July 12, 2023, brother Robert “Bud” Lawrence, nephew Rob Lawrence and great-nephew Jamie Lawrence.
Visitation will be held from 2- to 3- p.m.- Monday, December 9- at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Patricia A. Johnston will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Cowan officiating. Coffee, cookies, and bars will be served during the visitation in the Ludington Room located at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
