Deborah Lynn Johnson

ESCANABA — Deborah Lynn Johnson, 75, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Memorial Center in Iron Mountain.

Deborah was born on December 15, 1948 in Gladstone, Mich., daughter of Ward and Jamesena (Morrow) Johnson.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Bishop Noa Home for ten years and joined the US Army in August of 1976. She spent four years in the army, earning the rank of Specialist 4 while earning the Marksman, M-16 Rifle Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. During her time in the military, she was stationed in Germany, Colorado, Texas, Alabama and Virginia. She was honorably discharged in 1980.

Deborah attended Bay de Noc Community College where she earned an associate’s degree.

There was nothing Deborah loved more than driving around and sightseeing in her Trail Blazer and Jeep Renegade. She also enjoyed drawing, volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul and attending Eucharistic Adoration at St. Francis Hospital.

She was a proud member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, the Artist’s Way Group at the Veteran Center, and the Women’s Memorial of Washington D.C.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 7 at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St, Escanaba, MI 49829 from 10 to 11 a.m. Military Honors will be presented at 11 a.m. and the funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating.

Burial will take place in the Masonville Township Cemetery.
