James ‘Jim’ Douglas Johnston

AURORA, Ill. — James ‘Jim’ Douglas Johnston, 74, of Aurora, Illinois passed away on January 1, 2024. Jim lived in Escanaba and Bark River for 20 years in the 1960s and 1970s. He worked for Stenberg for a short time. Jim was a devoted husband and accountant and earned a master’s in finance from Western International University. An avid reader, book collector and lover of Celtic music, Folk rock and the band Rush. He was known for his kindness, wisdom and love of the Detroit Lions. Jim is survived by his wife Gabrielle and brother-in-law Frank Stenberg. A private memorial for family and close friends will be held Saturday, October 19 at 3 p.m. EST at Bark River Cemetery.
