Sally Theresa Soderstrom

RAPID RIVER — Sally Theresa Soderstrom, age 85, of Rapid River passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on August 27, 2024 of pancreatic cancer.

Sally was born on December 13, 1938 to Theodore and Elizabeth (Betsy) Goetz in Gladstone, Mich. She attended and graduated from Gladstone High School. Following graduation she was employed at a few local banks until she met her husband, William Soderstrom. Sally and Bill were united in marriage on March 4, 1962. The couple went on to have three sons, Martin, Steven (Otto) and Eric. She then became a dedicated mother and housewife to raise her three sons.

Sally is survived by a brother, James Goetz of Gladstone, a sister, Susan (Hollis) Habeger of Henderson, Nev.; sister-in-law, Connie Goetz of Iron Mountain, Mich.; one son, Eric (Roxanne) Soderstom of Pearce, Ariz.; one grandson, Kade Soderstrom of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Amanda (Soderstrom) Beckwith and great-grandson, Lucas Beckwith both of Durand, Mich.

Preceding Sally in death, her husband, William, son Steve (Otto) and son Martin (Marty) and brother, Theodore (Ted) Goetz. Further preceded in death by special nephew, Jay Holm.

Sally was well known for her amazing cooking and baking talents. She was always there to prepare large, amazing meals for family, friends and neighbors. Additionally, she was a devoted Christian woman helping to support anyone in need. She was a Calvary Lutheran Church secretary for many years and never missed cooking, baking or cleaning up for any church function. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Amanda Houlton her 24/7 homecare nurse and to Charlotte and Brittany with UP Health Systems Hospice Care for the amazing, kind, caring, and loving care they provided for Sally.
