Geraldine L. Hammond

Geri was born on June 28, 1946 in Escanaba, the daughter of Irving “Tubby” and Margaret (Elquist) Anderson. She attended and graduated from Gladstone Area Schools class of 1964.

Geri was united in marriage to Michael Hammond on January 22, 1966 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mike was attending graduate school at the University of Hawaii at that time. In the early 1970s the couple adopted two children, Troy and Kim and later had a child, Darrin.

In 1974, they moved to lower Michigan where they lived for 10 years. They also spent a few years in North Carolina and in Indianapolis before relocating back to Michigan.

Geri was a very loving wife and mother. She was also a dedicated homemaker.

In addition to her loving husband, Michael, Geri is survived by: two sons, Troy Hammond and Darrin (Renee) Hammond; daughter, Kimberly (Dan) Pauluk; three brothers, Leonard (Maggie) Anderson, Timothy Anderson and William (Lisa) Anderson; two sisters, Bonnie (Lee) Anderson and Jean (Steve) Helman; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Geri is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Connie Gibbons.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 26 from 2 until 4 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.

Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Elisabeth Daniels officiating. A luncheon will take place in the church hall. Geri will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.
