Cole Dylen Gustafson

RAPID RIVER — Cole Dylen Gustafson, age 22, passed away on August 8, 2024, as a result of an accident at work. He was born March 8, 2002 in Marquette, Mich. and was the son of Todd and Jill (Jenkins) Gustafson. Cole attended Rapid River Schools and was a member of the 2018 championship football team and graduated in 2020. After high school he worked at Anderson Excavating and most recently with Payne and Dolan, for the last two years, as a heavy equipment operator. He loved playing football, fishing, and shooting competitive trap. Cole was a very energetic young man who showed cattle at the U.P. State Fair, loved working on the family cattle farm and he started his own business: Cole’s Cattle Company, at a young age, buying and selling cattle.
Cole had a lot of passions but his biggest passion was living life to the FULLEST with his bright smile and huge heart that would make all those around him laugh and smile. Cole was always on the go, always looking for new adventures. He loved challenges and he was always trying something new and would always try something at least once. Family was extremely important to Cole and he always made time to share special moments with them.
Cole continues his passion for life, his legacy continues as a Gift of Life Donor.
Cole is survived by parents, Todd and Jill Gustafson of Rapid River; fiance, Emilie Johnson of Rapid River; brother, Todd (Rebecca) Gustafson, Jr. of Rapid River; sister, Beth (Paul) Wagner of Gladstone, Mich., Casey (Aaron) D’Ambrosio of Escanaba, Marki (Jesse) Peacock of Whitewater, Wis., Randy Goering of Minneapolis, Minn. and Justin (Brooke) Goering of Fall River, Wis.; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Margaret of Rapid River, Mich.; maternal grandfather Mike Jenkins of Dalton, Georgia; several nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved dog, Hank.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, August 16, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Cole Gustafson will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Frankenstein officiating.
