Samantha ‘Sammie’ Marie (Tomac) Shrove
ESCANABA — Samantha ‘Sammie’ Marie (Tomac) Shrove, 36, of Escanaba, passed away on Thursday, July 4th, 2024, from a kayaking accident.
Samantha was born at KI Swayer Air Force Base on September 4, 1987, the daughter of Ronald Tomac Jr. and Dawn (Clavell) Dean. She graduated from James R Fitzharris High School in 2006.
Samantha was currently employed at Comfort Suites of Escanaba as a housekeeper.
Sammie held many customer service jobs in her 36 short years of life, but many people would know her as Taco Bell Sammie.
She was an avid animal lover. Her pup Boy was her “lover” as she called him and said “I don’t need no man!” She had a great love for music and writing as well. They were her sources of relief and how she coped with things she didn’t understand.
Samantha had a very positive outlook even when she was struggling. She helped so many people overcome their deepest darkest days by being a beaming ray of sunshine and she didn’t even know that she was doing it.
Sammie always looked forward to her annual 4th of July family camping and kayaking trip.
Samantha is survived by her loving children, Lucas Parish, Madyson Tomac, Chase Shrove, and Blake Shrove; beloved daughter of Ronald (Leta) Tomac Jr, Dawn (Feotis) Dean, Lisa Mann, and Cindy Ogren; loving sister to Branden (Vincent) Hagman, Tracy (Brandon Sexton) Beaudo, Mara Ogren, Mason Thunder, Brittany Thunder, and Melody Fudala; step-siblings, Jason (Amy) Giroux and Joshua Giroux; and auntie to her amazing nephew Benjamin Dubord. She is also survived by her grandparents, Albert (T.J.) Clavell, Cathy Tomac, and Kathlyn Minor; and several aunties, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Dolores and Jacob Lund, Ronald Tomac Sr., and Marie Tomac.
Samantha’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Marquette Sheriff Department, Forsyth Fire and EMS, UPHS- Marquette EMS and Guardian Flight.
Samantha was profoundly loved by all and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
A celebration of life will take place on Monday, July 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Highland Golf Club.
