Nancy Marie Viau

MARION, Iowa — Nancy Marie Viau, 85, of Marion, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Nancy was born September 2, 1938 in Green Bay, Wis. to the late Emerentine and Joseph LeBeau. She grew up in Bark River and graduated from Holy Name High School in Escanaba. Nancy married the love of her life, Kenneth Viau at Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer, Mich. The couple resided in the Bark River area until their move to Iowa in 2014.
Nancy spent most of her career proudly working for Smokey Bear and the National Forest Service as a GIS specialist. She also assisted her husband Ken with Bark River Township duties.
Nancy was a gifted organist. She enjoyed playing for St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish and continued playing as a volunteer at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy upon their move to Iowa. She was a lover of country music and enjoyed going to concerts. She was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and season ticket holder. She loved to bake and her recipes will live on through the family.
Nancy was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially watching their sports and activities. Her most treasured title was Great-Grandmother (Nana) to Warren, with whom she shared a special bond.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Johnson (Richard McDowell), granddaughter Ashley (Tyler) Martin, grandson Brandon Johnson (Lacey Becker), great-grandson Warren Martin and many close family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Ken, her mother and father in-law, Dona and Cecelia Viau, son Michael Viau, son-in-law Michael Johnson and brother Andrew (Betty) LeBeau.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or St. Croix Hospice.
Nancy’s family would like to thank the staff and community at Good Neighbor Society (Marietta’s Place) and St. Croix Hospice for bringing compassion and dignity to the end of her life.
