GLADSTONE — Calvin Joseph Bovin, age 81, of Gladstone passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Cal was born December 15, 1942 in Escanaba, the son of Carl and Ruth (Hillman) Bovin. He was raised in Gladstone and graduated from the Gladstone High School. He was united in marriage to Terry Maki on June 19, 1965 at All Saints Catholic Church. He managed the Action Paper in Escanaba, volunteered at the Gladstone Senior Center and enjoyed going to the casino and golfing with his son-in-law, Donald and good friends, Pat and Bob at the Irish Oaks and Namha Golf Courses.
Cal is survived by his son Mark and Misty Bovin of Gladstone; daughters, Tina (Donald) Dillabough of Gladstone and Tara (Patrick) Johnson of Escanaba; grandchildren, Sara (Tyler) Albrecht, Robert (Amanda) Ganzel, Sabrina (Stephen) Ganzel, Kayla Ganzel and Brandon Demeuse, great-grandchildren, Seth, Emily, Bella, Brayden, Jaxson, Mason and Atlas; siblings, Carl (Jeanette) Bovin, John Bovin, Ruthie (Bob) Anderson, Scott Bovin, Warren (Novalene) Bovin and Elaine Bovin and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry Bovin; his parents, Carl and Ruth Bovin; a brother, Francis Bovin and a sister, Dorothy Bovin.
In accordance with his wishes, the family will have private graveside services at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
The family would like to thank the nurses from UP Health System Hospice and OSF St. Francis Hospital and Amanda Houlton for their care and compassion while taking care of Calvin.
