Wilfred ‘Butch’ Matthew LeBresh
GARDEN — Wilfred “Butch” Matthew LeBresh of Garden, Mich. entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old. He was born on August 2, 1947, to parents Veronica (Walter) and Meddie LeBresh. He attended Garden Schools and later served in the U.S. Army. Butch went on to marry the former Mary Ann St. Dennis on April 4, 1970, in Waterford, Mich. They made their home on the Garden Peninsula where they raised their three sons.
Butch was known by so many in so many different ways. As a provider he was an iron worker, a logger and woodsman. As a husband and brother, he was a rock of stability, a strong hug to go to and a dry wit to help remind you things will be ok. As a dad and grandpa, he was a patient listener and supporter of the decisions we would make. He was selfless in attending as many band concerts, basketball games and races along with grandkid’s football games and trap shoot competitions as he could. He was the one to set up the boat for fishing, the targets for shooting and most importantly setting up the deer blinds for hunting.
As a member of the community, he was a volunteer firefighter, a snowmobile club member to prepare the trails in the fall and then to groom and ride them in winter. He was a long, reliable member and supporter of his church. To his friends he was known as the go to handyman, an extra hand in the woods and a mechanic to fix equipment. If you were extra special, the dry wit would be there to harass you every chance he could. If you were lucky enough to be driving by the house and see the garage door open, he was a good ear to chew.
Butch is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann LeBresh of Garden, Mich.; sons, Shawn LeBresh of Walled Lake, Mich., Jeremy (Anna) LeBresh of Green Bay, Wis., Derek (Cathy) LeBresh of St. Jacques, Mich.; grandchildren, Hudson (Elizabeth), Wyatt, Dane, Lily, and Cale; brother, Bob (Janet) LeBresh of Manistique, Mich.; sisters, Shirley Eisemen of Toledo, Ohio, Mary (Irv) Browning of Milwaukee, Wis.; and brother-in-law, Jim Coman of New Mexico.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Veronica and Meddie LeBresh; and sister, Sharon Cowman.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 10-12 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden, Mich. A funeral mass will be offered for Butch beginning at noon.
