Teresia Lynn Leckson

GLADSTONE — U.S. Navy veteran, IT2 Teresia Lynn Leckson, age 54, of Gladstone, Mich. passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Teresia was born on February 18, 1970, in Flint, Mich. and was the daughter of Robert and Tana (Barbeaux) Leckson. She graduated from Big Bay de Noc High School in 1988 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation, where she spent 12 years and achieved the rank of E5, as an Information Systems Technician. Her duty stations were plentiful, being stationed in Antigua West Indies, Puerto Rico, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Naples Italy and Norfolk, Virginia. While stationed in Naples, Teresia became a proud mother of two beautiful daughters: Ashlyn Bosley, born in 1992 and Alysan Bosley, born in 1994.

After separating from the Navy in 2001, she relocated back to Michigan where she continued her education at Northern Michigan University, obtaining her B.S. in health and fitness management. Teresia’s love for helping people could be seen in her everyday life as she spent countless hours volunteering her time with the American Red Cross, FEMA, Community Emergency Response Team, Disaster Relief and many hours at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

After finishing her degree, Teresia moved to Chicago and began working as an I.T. analyst for the IRS. She retired in 2014 and moved back to Michigan to be with her family. A beautiful soul who walked to the beat of her own drum, she was mystified by what the outdoor world had to offer. You could often find her sipping a piping hot cup of coffee, while watching the wildlife off the back of her deck with her dog, Lazaro.

She loved spending time at her parent’s home, sewing with mom or out in the back 40 (as she called it), pruning and picking apples with dad, antiquing and shopping with her sister Melisa, or adventure seeking with Larry. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Her daughters were her best friends, each sharing a unique bond. With Ally, they talked for hours about anything and everything. They were each other’s confidants. With Ashlyn, they loved to watch TV and documentaries on crime shows and unwind and relax on the couch; always enjoying each other’s company. Teresia loved playing games with her grandchildren, monster trucks, and watching them zoom around the backyard in their green buggy.

Teresia is survived by her daughters, Ashlyn Terese Bosley, Alysan Dahyl Bosley; grandsons, Liam and Zander; parents, Tana and Robert Leckson of Garden, Mich.; sister, Melisa (Dennis) Johnson; nephew, Robert Johnson; niece, Emilie Johnson; loving partner, Larry Rochefort and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and beloved dog and best friend, Baxter.

A celebration of life will be held at the Garden Congregational Church on Saturday, June 15. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Williamson officiating. A burial with military honors will follow at New Garden Cemetery in Garden, Mich. Luncheon will be held directly after at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Teresia’s name to the Garden American Legion Post 545.

Fausett Family Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
