James R. ‘Jim’ Dahl

ESCANABA — James R. “Jim” Dahl, 58, of Escanaba, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 16, 2024 following an illness with cancer.

He was born on June 15, 1966 in Escanaba, son to Wallace J. and Bernita J. (Gauthier) Dahl. Jim was raised in Ford River and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1984.

On June 20, 1998, Jim married Sherry E. Morin in Gladstone.

At the age of 18, Jim began working at Bosk Corporation where he was employed for several years. In 2010, he began his 13-year career at Marinette Marine until his early retirement because of health issues.

Jim enjoyed hunting and spending time fishing with his best friend and brother, Wally. He loved being with his sons and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Escanaba; two sons, Jimmy and Brandon Dahl of Escanaba; siblings, Jeannie Hughes of Wells, Sandy Henderson of Escanaba, Kay (Louie) Berube of Cornell, Wally (Linda) Dahl of Bark River, and Judy (Bob) Woodard; several nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Corey Dahl who was his fishing and hunting partner; and special friends, Rob, Dale, Paul, Ed, Wally, and Paco.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Roy Henderson.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
