KILLBUCK, Ohio — Fred Hawkins Jr., 79, of Killbuck, passed away on May 28, 2024, at the Cleveland VA after an extended illness.

He was born on October 3, 1944 in Stillwell to the late Fred and Sadie (Haines) Hawkins. He married Alice Geiser on May 22, 1966. Fred lived a life filled with compassion, kindness, and unwavering determination. He touched the lives of many with his goodwill, a warm smile, and generosity. He graduated from Killbuck High and attended the Mount Vernon Business College. Fred was a veteran that served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox. He spent his life in the family lumber business. Fred traveled for 35 years performing lumberjack shows throughout the U.S. and Canada. Later in life he owned and operated an auto salvage business. When he wasn’t traveling you would find him down at the yard repairing or fixing something. He was always willing to help others in need.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Felicia Hawkins of Naples, Italy, Michelle Hawkins of Charleston, S.C., and Fred Philip Hawkins of Wooster; grandsons, Justin Hostetler of Wooster, Patric Hector of Columbus, Jason Hector of Minneapolis; a granddaughter, Faith Hector of Minneapolis; and great-grandchildren, Maize and Serenity, who were profoundly impacted by his presence and love. Surviving in addition to his children are sisters, Mary McCombs-Priebe, Shirley Cooper, and Deb Samples; and brother Rick Hawkins.

Fred’s legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Gary and sister Sandra.
