Daniel Owen Rumfelt
Daniel Owen Rumfelt
WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Daniel Owen Rumfelt was born on August 19, 1983, with his twin brother, David Lee, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. After a short stay in the nursery, he went home with his parents, Cecel Max and Sherri Lynn (Robinson) Rumfelt. Daniel departed this short life on June 14, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
Daniel was a sweet and adventurous stinker. On one occasion, his grandmother and father could not locate him in the yard, only to soon find he and David in a TREE. He has a sweet and loving soul to anyone he met and was a joker as well. His Border Collie, Axel was a constant companion and survives him. They hiked and went fishing. Daniel loved to play guitar, ride his Harley-Davidson, and drive his Chevy Tracker — the “Purple People Eater.” When his mother married his stepfather, Floyd Lancour, Daniel described it as his “funnest day.” Floyd became a model influence in Daniel’s life and loved him as a son.
The family moved to Gladstone, Michigan in 1990. Daniel loved growing up in the Upper Peninsula. He had many guy-friends, but probably more girlfriends. He enjoyed rollerblading and watching roller derbies. Daniel even traveled and refereed derbies. He was good at it and made many friends doing it. Daniel loved hanging out with his family and friends, and enjoyed the times Floyd took him and his brother camping on “man weekends,” where they would watch wildlife, fish, and cookout. He also looked forward to going to the U.P. State Fair each year.
Daniel attended elementary school in Kansas City and high school in Gladstone. He returned to Kansas City after graduating and lived with his aunt Shelly Jewell while he worked as a lead associate for a company, modifying vehicles for the handicapped and various companies. He loved that work and made many friends along the way. He longed to return to the U.P., and before he did, he spent his last year in Missouri living with his grandpa and grandma Stubler, where he became very close to his grandpa watching WWE wrestling and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Daniel leaves a huge void in his family. Surviving are his mother, Sherri Lancour of Rapid River, Mich.; his father, Cecil (Amy) Rumfelt of Oklahoma; twin brother, David Lee (Megan Neuber) Rumfelt of Manasha, Wis.; sister, Macey Webb of Lawrence, Kans.; special niece, Kiyleah Rumfelt and her mother, Julie, of Escanaba; maternal grandparents, Matt and Shelda Stubler of Kansas City; paternal grandmother, Betty Caudill of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Floyd Lancour; paternal grandfather, Sammy Robinson; and his great-grandparents.
Our hearts are broken but his sweet love will always be with us.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
