Linda L. (Porath) Barron

ROCK — Linda L. (Porath) Barron, age 75, of Rock, went to be with our Lord on May 4, 2024, where she will be reunited with her loving husband.

Linda was born on March 9, 1949, in Escanaba to Wallace and Lorraine (LaCosse) Porath. She graduated from Perkins High school in 1967 and married the love of her life, Timothy, on September 28, 1968, at her local church in Perkins. Together they raised seven children in her husband’s family home, located in St. Nicholas. She became a potato farmer’s wife and worked alongside her husband in the many duties of farming while ensuring life was fun and busy for her children.

Linda was a devoted mother and daughter and was known for hosting Barron family gatherings which included endless birthday parties, holiday gatherings, and family outings. Her entire life she was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church in Perkins where she taught CCD, organized children’s games for church picnics, helped with bible camps, served funeral luncheons, worked fish frys, and cleaned for many years. She loved gardening, canning, planting flowers, school shopping, camping trips and family vacations. Her children have many fond memories of summer activities at Camp 7, Autrain, and trips to Chicago. As if raising seven kids wasn’t enough, there were always additional friends and family to make gatherings even more special. There was never a dull moment or a quiet space to be found in the one-bathroom Barron homestead. She was a great homemaker and was well known for her famous meatloaf, three bean casserole and Thanksgiving stuffing. She dedicated her life to serving and supporting her family and continued her mothering nature by caring for many of her grandchildren in her later years.

Linda is survived by her seven children, Tim (Renee) Barron, Chris (Jill) Barron, Shannon Merlo, Jeremy (Brandin) Barron, Michelle (Dave) Robinson, Amber (Gary) DuBord and Ryan (Taylor) Barron. Her 20 grandchildren include Ty, Mitch (Erika), CJ, Savannah, Bailey, Zach, Karley, Matthew, Michael, Tristyn, JP, Brody, Gunnar, Maxwell, Joey, Laila, London, Landin, Logan, Parker, Brynn and her first great grandchild on the way, in laws Nancy (Dave) Skoog, Janet (Ray) Stewart, Diane (Jim) Berlier and Jim (Carolyn) Barron, numerous nieces and nephews and family friend, Shirley VanDamme.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy; her parents, Wally and Lorraine Porath; brothers, Micheal and Terry Porath; in-laws, Mary (Ernest) Heitman, Peter Barron and numerous aunts and uncles.

In celebration of Linda’s life, visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visiting hours at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins with Father William Ssozi officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Joseph Parish Hall. Linda will be laid to rest beside her husband in the St. Nicholas cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.
