Kevin M. Pearson
THORNTON, Ill. — Kevin M. Pearson, age 41, of Thornton, Ill., passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago, IL, following a brief illness.
Kevin was born December 20, 1982, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Michael and Tammy Pearson.
Kevin found true love and happiness with Tamara Hunter when they started dating in 2021. They met in Marquette, Mich. and moved to Greensboro, N.C. and then to Thornton, Ill. in 2023.
He graduated from Escanaba High School in 2002 and later from Northern Michigan University with a degree in political science.
He had several jobs over his adult life. He worked for an airline (in Michigan, Florida, and North Carolina). He was, for a time, a car salesman, a mailman, an Uber driver, a U-Haul manager, a gas station attendant, a campaign manager for a local state representative, and a substitute schoolteacher.
Kevin also was a major sports fan (especially of Packers football and Tigers baseball). He loved watching and attending baseball games. He had other passions, too, including politics, history, film, and music (especially jazz). He was a voracious reader and lifelong learner. He will be remembered, too, as a great friend. He maintained his relationships with care, regularly checking in on people whom he hadn’t heard from to learn what was new in their lives. He faced all challenges in life with a smile; his laughter was infectious.
In addition to his loving girlfriend and life partner, Tamara, and his parents, Michael and Tammy, Kevin is survived by his two brothers, Brian Pearson of Grand Ledge, Mich. and Alex Pearson of Escanaba, Mich.; his nephew, Dayton Pearson of Escanaba, Mich.; his aunts, Sue Sinclair of Green Bay, Wis. and Kathy Pearson of Escanaba, Mich.; his uncles, Pat Pearson of Green Bay, Wis. and Keith (Wendy) LaChapelle of Rock Mich.; his special cousin, Meghan (Jim) Greene of DePere, Wis.; and many more cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard (Butch) and Marguerite LaChapelle (maternal) and Gunnar and Katie Pearson (paternal), and by his uncles, Dale LaChapelle and Bob Pearson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Memorial services will follow at 6:00 PM with Deacon Mike LeBeau officiating.
