Conrad R. Pratt
ESCANABA — Conrad R. Pratt, age 94, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
Conrad was born on January 19, 1930, in Escanaba, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Park) Pratt. Growing up, Conrad worked in his dad’s barbershop. He also held positions working on the ore boats as well as with the E&LS Railroad. He eventually earned a position as switchman with Chicago Northwestern Railroad and worked there for 46 years until his retirement. Conrad was united in marriage to the former Madeline Lessard on October 14, 1950, and together they have shared 73 wonderful years together.
Conrad was an avid golfer and belonged to the Highland Golf Club. He even served as a board member there for many years. Conrad and Madeline enjoyed their winters spent in Gulf Shores, Alabama. They also enjoyed camping together and in more recent years, playing bingo at Bishop Noa Home. Conrad also enjoyed playing solitaire.
Conrad is survived by his loving wife, Madeline; daughters, Joanne Pratt of Escanaba, Carol (Paul) Crowe of Escanaba, and Sharon Heitman of Gladstone; brother, Larry (Lorrie) Pratt of Texas; grandchildren, Sally Heitman, Steven Heitman, and Cole and Cody Crowe; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Jorja Heitman.
Conrad is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Pratt; brothers, Douglas and John (Rosemary) Pratt; and sister, Bernice Pratt.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Services honoring Conrad will begin at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dave Wichert officiating. A luncheon will follow services at the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Conrad will be laid to rest in the Lakeview cemetery.
