Shane M. Flath

ESCANABA — Shane M. Flath, 47, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, April 15, 2024.

He was born on January 7, 1977 in Escanaba, son to Robert A. and Jo L. (Palequin) Flath. Shane attended Holy Name School and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1996.

Shane had a passion for anything with a motor and liked speed. He loved working on his dirt bike, race car, and four-wheeler always trying to get them to go faster. Shane and his dad always tinkered with engines which helped him become a self-taught mechanic. He loved his property which was adjacent to his parents. Riding the trails and being outdoors was always something Shane enjoyed doing. He loved all animals especially his dogs, Mya and Diego. Shane’s pride, joy and most important love is with his beloved daughter, Carly.

Shane was currently employed with EMP as a product technician. Prior, he had owned and operated Custom Car Care, worked in the sales and parts department for Riverside Auto and also Nortrack.

Among survivors are his 11-year-old daughter, Carly of Escanaba; his parents, Robert and Jo Flath of Escanaba; sister, Bobbie (Gene) Shoemaker of Mooresville, N.C.; nieces, Miranda and Hannah Shoemaker; of Mooresville, N.C.; partner, Kristy Lemerand of Escanaba; aunts and uncles, Debbie (Mike) Britton, Elaine (Mark) Cousineau, Lois (Dan) Forrester, and Bill Flath; lifelong friend, Mike Chapla; and several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Lois Palequin and Don and Marilyn Flath; and aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a committal service with Rev. Rick Courier officiating on Tuesday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery.
