Ronald Peippo

ESCANABA — Ronald Peippo, age 88, of Escanaba passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at his home in Escanaba. He was born February 19, 1936 in Watson, Mich. and was the son of Theodore and Meimi (Kelloniemi) Peippo. Ron graduated from Gwinn High School in 1954 and then served in the U.S. Army from September 14, 1961 until he was honorably discharged on September 5, 1963. He attended Bay de Noc Community College and graduated with a LPN degree from Bay. Ron worked as an LPN at St. Francis Hospital and later at the Multi Clinic at Doctors Park in Escanaba. Ron later worked at Elmers Restaurant as a cook until his retirement. Ron married the former JoAnn Bomaster on February 21, 1972 in Green Bay, Wis. and together they raised two children Erkki and Markku. He loved to read, listen to classical music, was proud of his100% Finnish heritage, enjoyed visiting and having coffee with friends. Ron was a talented pianist and organist and played for many churches in the area, including St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hyde and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wells.

Ron is survived by wife, JoAnn; sons, Markku Peippo of Escanaba and Erkki (Shawna) Peippo of Flat Rock; five grandchildren, Theodore, Sarah, Alexis, Meisi and Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Theodore and Kennedy; sister, Lenore Usher of Watson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Eileen Jeager.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ronald Peippo will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Doletsky officiating. A luncheon will be serviced following the funeral services in the Ludington Room, located at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Escanaba Township Cemetery.
