Mary Ann Wentland
POWERS — Mary Ann Wentland, 86, Powers, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility. She was born on October 28, 1937 in Nadeau, Mich., daughter of the late Sylvio and Agnes (King) Poupore. On May 31, 1958 she married the late Earl Wentland at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding.
Mary graduated from Stephenson High School and was a longtime resident of Powers, Mich. She spent many years as a secretary at North Central Area Schools and was a long-time member of St. John Neumann Church in Spalding.
Mary enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, reading, going for walks, spending winters in Arizona after retirement, traveling and sightseeing, camping with family and spending time with family and friends.
God blessed Mary with a big heart, and she received much joy in life by lovingly caring and reaching out to help others in need. John 11:25, 26: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die.
Mary is survived by three sons, Jeff Wentland, Chris (Pam) Wentland and Kevin (Lisa) Wentland; two daughters, Lori (Greg) Maule and Julie (Ken) LeGrave; a sister, Rose Charboneau; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Mildred Ekberg and Lucille Poupore and a brother: Clarence Poupore.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST on Friday April 12, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home, W3755 US 2, Spalding, MI, 49886. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. CST on Friday at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with Fr. Daniel Polzer officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Spalding Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
Her family would like to thank the kind, compassionate Pinecrest and Hospice staff for the loving care Mary received in her last months of life.
