Myron ‘Mike’ Laurence Wilson

GARDEN — Myron “Mike” Laurence Wilson, age 59, of Garden, Mich., walked on, March 23, 2024, at UP Health System Marquette, with his loving family at his side. His family was blessed to have him for over eight years after his traumatic brain injury.

He was born September 16, 1964, to parents Connie and Larry (Jim) Wilson. Mike was raised in Garden and graduated from Big Bay de Noc School, with the class of 1982. Mike moved to DeTour Village, Mich. where he raised his family and worked as a carpenter. Mike returned home to Garden 10 years ago.

He was a dedicated Detroit Lions fan, never giving up on them.

He was always ready with some Lions trivia to share. Mike also enjoyed doing the Escanaba Daily Press crossword puzzle with his mother. Mike enjoyed walking (usually walking up to seven miles a day), watching wildlife, and being in nature behind his childhood home.

Mike will be missed by many that looked forward to seeing him on his daily walks.

Mike is survived by his children: son, Joshua Wilson of Garden; daughters, Darci (Donny) Newell of DeTour Village, Mich., Alyssa Wilson of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; mother and loving caregiver, Connie Wilson of Garden, Mich. and his sisters, Colleen (Tim) Weinert of Garden, Mich. and Candace Wilson (Brad Flory) of Mason, Mich. Also surviving Mike is the mother of his children, Annette Callaghan Wilson of DeTour Village, Mich.; grandchildren, Draven Newell, Dalayna Newell, Carter Cook; aunts, Etheleva Wilson Harbenski, Jane Wilson Bell, Mickey VandenHeede; nieces and nephews, Amanda Weinert (Jon Anthony), Brandon Weinert, Elizabeth Flory (Steven Christman), Andrew Flory (Melanie Palmer), and numerous cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Larry (Jim) Wilson and grandparents, Myron and Freda Farley and Laurence and Ethel Wilson.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Mike’s name to the Garden Peninsula Historical Society or Grow Our Garden, Village of Garden.

Fausett Family Funeral Homes will be assisting the family with arrangements.
