MANISTIQUE -- Mildred Ella "Milly" Greene, age 102, of Manistique, Mich., passed away in her sleep on March 2, 2024, in Manistique, Mich. Mildred was born on July 12, 1921 in Garden, Mich., to the late Edward and Lucy (Farley) Purtill. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Greene and loving mother of Edward (Kim), Michael (Linda), James, and the late Robert Greene.
Milly was a warm and caring person whose family was always the most important thing throughout her life.
She graduated as salutatorian of the Garden High School class of 1939 and furthered her education at the Cloverland School of Business in Escanaba and Cleary College in Ypsilanti.
She was a member of St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church where she found solace and community. A private graveside service will be held in the spring to honor and remember Milly.
Milly is survived by her sons, Edward, Michael, and James, along with her grandchildren Nicole Jarski (Mark), Patrick Greene (Mandy), and Christina Greene (Rick), and great-grandchildren Seth, Shelby, Tyler, Brycen, Nathan, Zeke, and Clementine. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, and son Robert.
The family gratefully acknowledges Sandy Whitman for her friendship and companionship. Sandy's consistent and uplifting presence during her weekly visits were so meaningful on what would have been just an ordinary day.
Also, an enormous thank you to JoAnne Milavec. JoAnne's tireless compassionate care was truly a blessing aiding Milly to remain at home. The selfless dedication and love shown by these two women will not be forgotten.

The Fausett Family Funeral Homes of Manistique and Garden, Michigan will be assisting the family with arrangements.
