La Doris ‘Doris’ M. Oberle

PEORIA, Ill. — La Doris “Doris” M. Oberle, 91, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin.

She was born November 20, 1932, in Escanaba, Michigan to Edward and Aimee (Richer) La Fave. She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.

Surviving are five daughters, Aimee J. La Fave of Wheaton, Kathy Oberle of Lombard, Jan Cottrell of Pekin, Carol (Mike) Oberle-Hora of Gainesville, Virginia and Joani Tosi of Topeka, Kansas; one son, Tom Oberle of Pekin; three grandchildren, Rikki (Shawn) Horvatic, Ford Brandt and Elizabeth Brandt and three great-grandchildren, Sienna Smith, Oscar Horvatic and Eloise Horvatic.

Doris had worked as an R.N. at the American Red Cross, retiring in 1997 after 20 years. She also worked at Pekin Hospital and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She enjoyed her career, ballroom dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a former member of the Peoria Women’s Connection.

Doris was a former member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and formerly attended Saint Vincent De Paul in Peoria.

Her funeral was be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor John Plunkett officiated. Entombment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
